but i sure saw:
molly hatchet
.38 special
the outlaws
the danny joe brown band
le roux
charlie daniels band
blackfoot
marshall tucker band
& alot of others
we went to see molly hatchet at the hampton coliseum in the middle of july, hot fuckin night/windows rolled down and music BLARING. i drove the bunch 2 hours to see the show (i had the only license, my ticket and beer for my troubles). we had a 12 pack to take in to the show. knowing there'd be security, i had the idea to line a skiing jacket with 10 oz's of old milwaukee. 98 fuckin degrees, and i skated in like fuckin eric heiden (yeah, that was a sweet reference bitches!). molly was okay, this was the jimmy farrar "beatin the odds" days, fat fuck held no candle to danny joe, but we were cool. saw danny at a fest the next summer. fucker rocked. but, the beer in my jacket at hampton musta been 110 farenheit. explodin all over the place. but we didn't give a shit, we were at the SHOW ... and we didn't give a fuck bout the ride home.
seein the drive-by truckers tonight reminded me of it (save the $22 cab ride home). "let there be" ... fuckit. best live rock band in the world. i miss playin gtr.

Saw them 2 nights ago. Best show I've seen in a while. Never saw Molly Hatchet.
I'm sorry, but this is more embarrassing than liking the Grateful Dead.
Was I there? I remember an outdoor show in Hampton with 38 Special and Blackfoot. Beyond that I can't remember who else was playing. Was Molly Hatchet the headliner. Fuck -- I can't remember. Not only did you get in with a jacket of beer - but us 16 and 17-year olds hauled a whole cooler of cheap beer into the dump. On the way back to the car we were followed by some gangstas asking the ultimate question -- "Whad you say about my motha?!!!!"
you were totally there. you were always the guy with the plan (and the tickets). nighthawks opened. the outdoor show was that summer. headliner was the marshall tucker band. danny joe brown band also played, post-hatchet, as did the outlaws and the others you mentioned.
Dude, my buddy Greg Caz has told me of a band from Louisiana(?) called Le Roux that was incredibly popular in Haiti during the '80s (I think). However, he was never able to find any of their music here in the States. Could it be the same band?
yeah, they had a big hit called "new orleans lady" in the (i think) early 80s
