random notes (ha!)

the stooges finally made the rock and roll hall of fame ... won't even dignify that with a snide comment. my friend chris c. said it all with, "after madonna"

the final submissions are in for "GIHYB's greatest albums of the 1970s". a tally will be up soon ... that's a hint for at least 4 MFer's whose lists i have not received!!!! ... no names need to be presented matt, ada, drew, and kate!

and goddamnit, elliott smith rears his head again with an amazing unreleased song. just check out the pitchfork post.

i thought you said Madonna was, and I quote, a "genius"? No?

sure i said that, but as a brand, like reynold's wrap ... don't confuse me with my brother

oooooh. i must be wrong; i remember years ago saying that Britney as a brand was the same as Madonna, and yet you were apoplectic, saying that Madonna was a genius re: her "music," and ergo light-years ahead of Britney. I guess I misunderstood.

i totally stand by that. madonna has an ear, was totally ingrained in the club scene, was a trendsetter, and writes alot of her own music. if britney could produce "get into the groove", more fucking power to her. to compare the two is silly. but taking all of that into consideration, i couldn't give a shit (get into the groove, and a couple others excepted) about either.

incredibly, you made my argument maybe 3x, if not more. britney has an ear, was totally ingrained in the club scene, was a trendsetter, and writes alot of her own music. if madonna could produce "womanizer", more fucking power to her.

and thanks for falling back on your old tried and true "oh, but i couldnt give a shit" argument. really gives credence to what you say. (oh, but gee, it doesnt!)

good for britney. i couldn't hum of hers with a gun to my ear save "i did it again". run with it!

well, im pretty sure the exact same thing could be said of Madonna from anybody born in 1950, so. obviously its an age thing. the "singers" are all the same, its the audience that chooses who to view as "relevant."

run with it!
